Day 2 - Maia to Fajozes - 13 miles

We had plenty of drizzling rain today but no downpours. Every once in awhile it would almost stop raining. Then it would start up again. But that didn't stop us from plodding along. This picture was from first thing in the morning when we were bright and chipper.

Today was a frustrating day for Ian. All the churches we found were locked up tight. He felt like banging on the door and saying, "Let me in! Don't you know there are pilgrims here who need spiritual sustenance?"

Pam on the other hand found lots of delights in the soggy countryside. The Wisteria was starting to bloom and after our long New England winter it was a joy to see.

Also the citrus trees were laden with fruit including this tangerine tree.

And they grow their Azaleas extra large in Portugal. This one was at least 15 feet tall.

We were foot weary at the end of our day and glad to find our hotel. Pam had a blister but Ian was in good shape (more or less). But after a steak dinner at a nearby restaurant we both were in better spirits.
