Day 7- Ponte de Lima to Rubiaes - 12.5 miles
We felt pretty good starting out today, even after all the miles we walked yesterday. Because we were so tired when we arrived in Ponte de Lima last night we did not do any sightseeing. So this morning we took our time as we walked out of town and found some interesting things. One was the medieval bridge.
And at the end of the ancient bridge we found a modern statue. It was of St. James and wished pilgrims a "Bom Camino" or good Camino.
The weather was wonderful again. We have been so lucky and have only had 1 rainy day on our Camino so far. But today was all about varied terrain. It started out with a walk along a creek bed.
We also saw more variety of blooming flowers. These included Calla Lilies which grow all along the roadside.
Just as we were getting ready to leave our German friends from yesterday appeared and we hiked down the other side of the mountain with them. We were glad to reach our bed and breakfast and rest our weary bones!
